UL’s laboratories in Cabiate (Italy) and Gurgaon (India) are now accepted laboratories by ZDHC to support the implementation of the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines in value chains and to help ensure a consistent level of quality for the wastewater and sludge test data submitted in the ZDHC Gateway – Wastewater Module.  This recognition expands UL’s services dedicated to the leather industry and gave us the chance to better support brands, retailers, manufacturers and importers.  We are able to offer a wide range of services to verify the compliance of leather articles, bags and footwear to global requirements.

In this session, we’ll explore the role that packaging design plays in food waste. We’ll look at where food waste occurs in the supply chain, focusing on retail and consumer environments and reviewing the data for why food is thrown away by consumers. We will take a closer look at how packaging design can help prevent food waste, but also how many of today’s packaging choices and formats are causing additional food waste. ReFED will share their latest food waste data and analytics, offering insights into how packaging adjustments, such as active packaging, spoilage prevention, and design changes, are a key strategy for reducing food waste.

In this article, John Jackson discusses the importance and value of creating a green circular economy, bringing attention to how businesses may need to consider adapting current processes into becoming more environmentally friendly. As well as this, John introduces the use of recycled or reconditioned products and materials as a considerable method that could significantly contribute towards a business’s decarbonisation strategy. The transition to become a net zero carbon nation is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges facing the business community in Wales. It is the ultimate game changer, and to achieve it will mean that across all aspects of our built environment new approaches to our activities will need to be adopted. Decarbonisation will be on the agenda for many businesses and organisations across Wales, and will increasingly be moving up it as the need to change becomes increasingly apparent.
