This second webinar in the new series of deep dive sessions jointly hosted by SUEZ and CIWM explored how we can help encourage, support and adapt consumer behaviour and choices as part of effectively delivering the circular economy and inspire them to make the right choices sooner rather than later.
Fermentation in microflora (or, as we call it, flora-based foods) can address the world’s nutrition needs – and our demand for animal products – without the significant environmental and climate impacts caused by animal agriculture. (Microflora refers both to the plants of a specific region, as well as microorganisms collectively. You’ll notice we use flora as a shorthand way to refer to the fungi, yeast, algae, bacteria and other organisms commonly used to produce ingredients via fermentation.)
The theme of this year’s Sustainability Summit is Social Responsibility: Cultivating Civic Engagement. Sustainability is a system thinking approach that addresses equity (people), the economy (prosperity) and the environment (planet). All three are interconnected. If one of these areas is ailing, then eventually they all will be affected. This year’s conference examines the idea that citizens have a social responsibility to make a positive contribution to their community. And it offers suggestions for how to make that contribution.
