Risk Management – Aligning Sustainability and Risk Management

We believe sustainability is one of the core growth drivers of our business in the long term. On June 21, 2021, our parent company, Intertape Polymer Group (IPG), published its 2020 Sustainability Report, and we are very proud to share the highlights here.  Greg Yull, President and CEO of IPG, commented: “We embrace sustainability at IPG as a way to conduct ourselves every day. Practicing respect toward one another and our communities, delivering innovations and striving for efficiencies and eliminating waste in the use of raw materials, water and energy are inherent to our values. This year’s report details our approach toward sustainability, our achievements and where we have more work to do. The report builds on our prior work and enhances our disclosure, including a materiality assessment to guide our strategy and judge our performance against.”

The fashion label Stella McCartney sources its materials from sustainably-managed forests. Miyoko’s Creamery, the vegan cheese brand, launched a program to help struggling dairy farmers transition to plant-based alternatives. Elate Beauty, the ethically-made cosmetics company, has diverted more than 10,000 kgs of waste from landfills—so far.  In recent years, brands have stepped up and committed to more sustainable practices. In honor of Earth Day 2022, we wanted to take a closer look at what commercial photographers can do to help raise awareness about climate change and the protection of our environment, while also helping companies and consumers realize their goals.

When most wine drinkers hear the word Argentina, the first thing that comes to mind is Malbec, and with good reason: From the time that French grapes were first planted here, in 1853, Malbec has far and away been one of the biggest success stories in the entire wine world. Far from its home in France, Argentine Malbec, especially from Mendoza, has become a global phenomenon rivaled by only one other international transplant from its home country, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.  While Mendoza Malbec has been popular in the United States and international wine market for at least two decades, there has been a more recent trend for producers to zero in on the subregions within Mendoza that their grapes are grown in, such as Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. Many are also producing plot-specific wines from within those subzones. While Argentina may never have a formal appellation system as complex as that of France, there is definitely a movement afoot to identify and define the terroir within Mendoza and its subregions.
