The Evolving Sustainability & ESG Integrated Reporting Landscape
At a time of increasing interest in enhanced and evolving sustainability disclosures and broad-based agreement on the immediate need for an established set of collaborative global sustainability reporting standards to supersede the numerous and non-mandatory reporting frameworks which currently exist, being responsive to stakeholder disclosure demands is challenging. Masters of Eco-Design: Art and Sustainability
At a glance, it’s easy to take an artwork’s materials for granted. Today, however, across all areas of production and consumption, it’s increasingly urgent to consider the environmental impact of materials. When it comes to art, more and more artists are taking the lifecycle of their materials into account, making their art with an eye towards sustainability and protecting the natural world. This can mean using sustainable materials themselves or making art that consciously encourages conversations about pressing climate issues. The international artists in Masters of Eco-Design: Art and Sustainability represent the vanguard of eco-design, producing their art from recycled and upcycled materials towards diverse conceptual and formal ends. Rather than serving as a limitation, sustainable design opens up wide-ranging approaches to artmaking, resulting in rich and novel practices.
Environment Minister says government will challenge UNESCO move to list Great Barrier Reef as ‘in danger’ – ABC News
Environment Minister Sussan Ley says Australia has been “blindsided” by a draft recommendation to list the Great Barrier Reef as “in danger”, suggesting the decision was politically motivated. The World Heritage Committee, which sits under UNESCO, has proposed moving the reef to the list because of the impact of climate change, and will consider the decision at a meeting in China, which is the chair, next month. Ms Ley described the decision as a “backflip” and said United Nations officials had assured the government the reef would not face this kind of recommendation before the July meeting. “We were blindsided by a sudden late decision,” she said.
