To achieve this, lessons must be drawn from the crisis, stressed the Commissioner. Several essential pre-conditions for a sustainable recovery are already evident: Europe’s strategic independence, a well-functioning internal market, accompanying Europe’s workforce through the green and digital transition through skills development, differentiated strategies for each industrial ecosystem that consider specific challenges as well as co-designing these strategies in a broad and inclusive dialogue with stakeholders, including trade unions.
This paper focuses on the possibility of adapting the centrifugal slip casting method to obtain zirconia–alumina composite materials in the form of finished tube-shaped products. These types of products, due to their unique properties, can be utilised, for example, in the transport of aggressive substances, even in extreme temperatures or corrosive conditions. The study reports on the two series of zirconia–alumina composites differing in the content of ZrO2—2.5 and 25 vol%. The fabricated and sintered materials were characterised using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and stereological analysis. Moreover, a life cycle assessment (LCA) was provided in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 14044 and EN 15805 standards. The obtained data clearly show that the centrifugal slip casting method allows obtaining samples with high density and extremely uniform distribution of the ZrO2 phase in the alumina matrix. Along with her urgent message on climate change, Thunberg brings something that not many Americans are thinking about right now: flight shame. Thunberg is a non-flyer. She quit flying because of the greenhouse gases that are emitted during flights. Airplanes burn fossil-fuel based jet fuel and air travel is responsible for some 2 percent to 5 percent of the world’s carbon emissions, depending on whose numbers you use.
Ruminant production systems have been facing the sustainability challenge, namely, how to maintain or even increase production while reducing their environmental footprint, and improving social acceptability. One currently discussed option is to encourage farmers to follow agroecological principles, that is, to take advantage of ecological processes to reduce inputs and farm wastes, while preserving natural resources, and using this diversity to increase system resilience. However, these principles need to be made more practical. Here, we present the procedure undertaken for the collaborative construction of an agroecological diagnostic grid for dairy systems with a focus on the mountain farming relying on the use of semi-natural grasslands.
