The Climate-KIC Climathon is a global 24-hour climate change event which will take place simultaneously in major cities around the world on 28 October 2016. For Paris-Saclay, the Climate-KIC Climathon will start in the evening of the 28 October and will last until the following day at 6 pm.

The symposium of Sustainable Development Goals Challenge discusses the implementation of the SDGs in politics and will raise awareness about the importance of the intertwined biology-environment-lifestyle-complex for our health – especially regarding disease prevention and health preservation.
The world is facing an unprecedented crisis of climate change, growing inequalities and biodiversity loss1. To meet these challenges and unlock the transformational capacity of research, we urgently need a sustainability science that is accessible and mutually beneficial to all2. How do the science and practice of ethnobiology position themselves in the global sustainability debate? What is the potential role of the discipline for achieving sustainable development, and in particular the Sustainable Development Goals? And more specifically, how are recent advances in ethnobiology pushing the frontiers of knowledge needed to achieve sustainable development? In this interactive session, we will ponder and explore these issues with researchers and practitioners.
The Stable is based in Sydney, Australia. Shortly after Australia was rated the worst-performing country on climate change policy in the 2020 Climate Change Performance Index, it got a wake-up call from Mother Nature. As of January 6, there were 277 fires burning in Australia, 136 of them in New South Wales (of which Sydney is the capital city), with 69 of those not contained.
Shampoo and conditioner powders are the latest innovation in the world of eco-friendly hair care. I thought I had tried every green, plastic-free, refillable, compostable, all-natural hair-washing method until I received two emails in the same week from companies now selling these washing powders. “Powders?” I thought in confusion, and promptly accepted the samples they were offering. One came from a brand new startup called Cocofomm, the other from established eco-beauty brand Meow Meow Tweet. Both arrived in paper envelopes and consisted of a light-colored granular powder. Cocofomm’s delivery came with a small shaker bottle, but as founder Liz Qiao-Westhoff explains, any leftover spice shaker will do. That piqued my interest because it’s a zero-waste product that makes use of packaging most people already have at home, and the envelope in which the powder comes is plastic-free and compostable.
